The short exploded video showcases our SMARTIQ SERIES ARCTICXTREME 150ah Lithium battery, with UL Listed, Grade-A, Prismatic Cells and self-heating technology that enables the battery to be charged in sub zero climates down to -20c enabling uninterrupted use.
Lithium Pro Energy use traceable QR coded, grade A, 'matched' EVE Lithium iron phosphate (lifepo4) cells in our batteries. Producing upwards 4000-8000cycles @ a 80% depth of discharge DOD. Compared to only 200-500 cycles of conventional 12v lead-acid deep cycle batteries.
A 12v lithium leisure battery can discharge 100% using all its stored energy. Whereas if you discharge conventional deep cycle lead acid batteries below 50% it causes permanent cell damage, resulting in reduced cycle capacity.
Our batteries have undergone rigorous sign-off tests to pass UKCA, CE, ROHS, RED and UN38.3. LithiumPro batteries have all been subject to Vibration tests, Shock tests, Short Circuit tests, Crushing, Thermal tests, even undergone testing at Altitude.
All lithium lifepo4 batteries can be recycled and do not contain any dangerous gases or sulphuric acid.
With a cell cycle capacity of upwards of 4000 -8000 cycles at a 80% depth of discharge means if used daily and cycled to 80% of its capacity it will provide up to 11-21 years of continuous power.
Unlike with lead acid, a lithium leisure battery does not require any maintenance.

When choosing a 12v lithium leisure battery for your application whether that be a motorhome, boat, caravan, or campervan you should carry out some market research on the brands available. There are many new lithium batteries flooding into the UK market and with enticingly cheap price tags. It is hard even for us, sometimes, to tell the difference of which are quality products and what are cheaply manufactured products with no certification. Many of the Chinese imports are a give away with their wacky names and branding.
Be wary of cheap Chinese imported batteries. Although they may seem appealing with their lower prices, they often suffer from poor quality components, manufacturing defects, quality issues and lack of official certification to be sold and used in the UK & EU Markets. These batteries rarely undergo any form of safety testing. Its important to note that if you suffer any malfunction with imported goods sold via amazon, ebay or the internet which results in a claim with your insurance company, you will find that you are not covered unless the product carries the appropriate certifications to be sold in the UK/EU.

Many ‘off-the-shelf’ imported lithium batteries on the market lack the official certifications needed for legal sale and use in the UK and EU. In some countries, there are no strict manufacturing regulations, so companies often skip costly safety testing. Motorhome and campervan manufacturers must follow strict safety and quality standards, only using E-marked products approved by governments or industry experts. In contrast, aftermarket van builders and converters are less regulated and can use uncertified components. However, they are responsible for ensuring the safety and quality of their work.
When purchasing batteries, always ask for certification to ensure you’re getting a product that meets the safety standards for your market.
Lower-cost lithium batteries often cut corners by using cheaper components or omit safety altogether in an effort to reduce costs.
For example, flimsy cotton straps may replace sturdy carry handles, and essential features like a base rail for securing the battery in vehicles may be missing. Safety features such as battery isolation, over current protection or even pre-charge protection are frequently not found on cheaper chinese imports.
Even externally, quality differences are visible—poorly applied labels, signs of rough assembly, with overspill when sealing lids with glue rather than precision fittings all indicate subpar construction.

A Lithium Battery Management System (BMS) is essential for protecting and optimising lithium batteries, ensuring safety and longevity. Quality can vary significantly. The BMS controls the vital safety protocols built into the logic of the battery. It prevents dangerous scenarios that could lead to battery failure such as overcharging, over-discharging, over temperature, under temperature, over current protection, short circuit protection and incorrect polarity. Its also responsible for precision balancing of the individual cells that make up the battery pack. All these parameters are efficiently managed for optimal performance and reliability. A high-quality BMS safeguards against thermal runaway, electrical failures, and premature battery degradation, making it crucial for reliable performance in applications like Motorhomes, Campervans, Caravans, and Boats. Investing in a high performance battery with a quality BMS ensures safe operation, extended battery life, and peace of mind.
The image above of a poorly hand crafted BMS from a Lithium battery being imported for sale into the UK. It reveals a common theme found in cheap imported lithium batteries. The lack of build quality is concerning. Instead of utilising secure bolted connections to the BMS the manufacturer relies on poorly soldered joints, which are unsuitable for high-vibration environments such as motorhomes, campervans, and boats. This serverly compromises long-term reliability and safety of the product. The choice of cabling it protection and its limited cross-section suggest cost-cutting measures. The absence of thermal insulation or protection further indicates substandard construction. This BMS has very rudamenarty logic, this basic BMS logic provides minimal protection, lacking essential safeguards such as overcurrent protection and cold-temperature charging prevention. Many manufacturers permanently seal these batteries to conceal such shortcomings, which also prevents maintenance inspection or repairs.
Many importers are still selling the older style LiFePO4 cylindrical celled batteries. The vast majority are not traceable with not identification on them to acsertain the factories that produced them. Consequentially, you have no idea when the cells were manufactured or what Grade cells are being used inside the battery pack, let alone if they were ever certified to any form of safety standard post production.
All LithiumPro batteries use brand new cells produced by the top-tier manufacturers and are certified to stringent, UL standards, UL1973, UL1642 ensuring they meet both safety and performance criteria for use in vehicles as auxiliary power systems.
Cylindrical cells are much smaller in size and up to 80+ cells can be required to make a single 100AH battery. Four batches of 20 cells connected in series and then parallel to make up a 12.8v battery pack. This brings certain limitations in many aspects of design and battery longevity. Both monitoring and balancing 80 cells is a more complex task compared with more modern battery packs using only 4 Prismatic cells. Newer prismatic battery packs achieve superior battery performance for longer. The heat transfer of 80 cylindrical cells is far greater than just 4 prismatic cells. Also packaging of large numbers of cylindrical cells is not conducive to allow small compact designs either. Cylindrical cells are heavier and more bulkier in design. So make sure you understand what cells are in your batteries and if they have been UL certified for use in your application. Otherwise your insurers may refuse to cover you or payout in any claim.
